Nissen Park

An announcement in the Union Republican on this day in 1902 said that Nissen Park is open for the season.

Nissen Park was a recreation area near Waughtown that was originally reached via the streetcar from town.

The announcement stated there were some changes this year, with the additions of a miniature railroad, a ten-pin bowling alley, a fountain placed in the center of the pavilion, two small lakes built and stocked with goldfish, another spring opened, and swings and see-saws for children being added.

The announcement also stated that Mr. R. C. Spaugh is in charge of the refreshment stand, and Mr. John Ebert was appointed Keeper of the Park.
