It’s Open! The New Kernersville Library.

In celebration of National Library Week, this feature focuses on the newest library branch in the Forsyth County Public Library system.

The new Paddison Memorial Branch Library, located at 248 Harmon Lane in Kernersville, is completed and open for business.  This is the link for the home page at the Paddison Memorial Branch Library: http://www.forsyth.cc/library/kernersville/default.aspx

This is the front entrance to the library.  Come in and see the new library.

The front hallway has room for people to congregate before entering the auditorium.  The doors to the auditorium are at the left.  The separate entrance makes possible the scheduling of events that take place or end when the library is closed.  The auditorium has moveable furniture so that the room can serve multiple purposes.

Near the front entrance, the Friends of the Library provide an ongoing book sale.  Books are placed on the bookcase that are available for sale.  Patrons pay for their book purchases at this station.

Branch library supervisor, Crystal Holland, welcomes library patrons to the new library at the front desk.  New books are featured on the bookcases in this area, and library materials that are being held for patrons are shelved along the wall.

Kiosks are available for library patrons to monitor their accounts, and to check-out and renew materials.

There are public computers in the reading area, along with books and other media, such as DVDs.

There are meeting rooms that can be reserved for the use of library patrons.

Teens have a room to themselves with books, computers, tables, and comfortable seating.

The Children’s Room is bright and colorful, with child-sized furniture, such as tables, chairs and bookcases.

Storytelling and group events take place in a special room, and there are computers just for the use of children.

There is a copy center for the use of patrons, and a hallway features a wall that can be used for exhibits, such as the current photography display.  The plaque in the front hallway gives data about Forsyth County Government and the date the library opened.

Celebrate National Library Week by visiting a library near you!
