Katharine Davis Ogburn was born on this day in 1914, in Forsyth County, to John Neal and Elva Wall Davis.
Katherine attended the public schools and Meredith College. She was president of her class at Meredith, and was an athlete during her youth and school years.
Following graduation from Meredith, she attended the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts. After graduation, she returned to Winston-Salem and taught art at Salem College.
She married Thomas Lynn Ogburn in 1936.
She continued to paint portraits and landscapes throughout her life. She was also active in the community, working with several PTA’s, book clubs, garden clubs, and playing golf.
Katherine passed away in 2010.
