FJ.07704

On this date in 1915, an announcement appeared in the Winston-Salem Journal that Winston High School has just received and put into use two new Singer sewing machines.  The machines will be used in the new domestic science department which is in its first year as a course for the 60 girls in the 8th grade.  The machines were financed by the money taken in at the lunch counter that the cooking department sponsors.

The photo shows the domestic science department at Winston High School in 1915.
