Janie Davenport Weaver was born on this day in 1909, in Lenoir, to Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Weaver.
Janie’s father came to Winston-Salem to be a minister at Centenary Methodist Church, and she graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School. She also graduated from Greensboro College.
Janie taught history and was a counselor at R. J. Reynolds High School for her entire teaching career. Her career in education lasted for 40 plus years. She retired in 1972.
Janie passed away in 1996.
