May 7,1952 : Smith Reynolds Airport Terminal Gets New Look

Airport terminal - 2        Airport terminal

On this day in 1952, an announcement was made in the Twin City Sentinel that the Smith Reynolds Airport terminal building was getting a face lift.

The brick building was previously painted white, but when the building was sandblasted, the paint was removed.  The decision was made to leave it natural and not repaint it.

The above photos show the terminal building before and after the sandblasting.
