NCNB demolition

On this day in 1973, the NCNB Building at the corner of West Third and Liberty Street was imploded.   The photo was taken looking east, with Third Street at left.  The Wachovia Building (1965) is in the background at left.  Part of the new NCNB building can be seen at right.

This is how the building looked from the front, the Liberty Street side, when it was the First National Bank.
