Rev. Wilburn Thomas Hendrix was born in Clay County in 1921. He served as a Baptist minister at several Baptist churches, including Northwest Baptist Church. In all, he served North Carolina Baptist churches for 50 years before his retirement.
Rev. Hendrix also served as chaplain for the Washington Group, and as director of the Forsyth Prison Ministry.
He was married to Sadie Hendrix, and he passed away in 2001.
