It’s Looking Like Christmas In Winston-Salem

Nativity at Baptist Hospital

The Christmas season brings beautiful decorations to landscapes and buildings and homes. Some of the decorations have graced the city for several years, while others are new to the Christmas scene.

The many-figured and colorful Nativity above is on the lawn of the Baptist Hospital. Another star, very large, sits atop the hospital. It was lighted at the end of November. The star can be seen in the distance in the photo of Hardees, shown below.

When the Hardees display goes up, and can be seen from Business 40, we know that the Christmas season has begun.

Here’s the Hardees display from another angle, showing the snowman from the front. Thank you, Hardees, for brightening our drive into and from town.

Small Batch on the corner of Cherry and Fifth Streets.

Who is that on the roof of Small Batch…is that the Grinch with his grinchy grin? A reindeer stands with the Grinch, and there is maybe another blow-up that is taking a break from looking cute for the passersby.

Joe’s Landscaping Nativity display

If you drive Highway 421, you can see Joe’s Landscaping’s display at Reynolds Road. The large Nativity is lighted at dark.

Santa, Mrs. Claus, the sleigh, and the reindeer are also present at Joe’s Landscaping. They are sending Merry Christmas greetings and…

Season’s Greetings for all the riders who pass by their home and business.

The city’s Christmas tree was lighted recently at Corpening Plaza. The BB&T Building makes a dramatic background for the tree.

Nativity at the Children’s Home (Crossnore) on Reynolda Road

The white-figured Nativity was recently installed at the Children’s Home (now Crossnore) on Reynolda Road. Many of these figures graced the Fourth Street entrance to the downtown Sears Roebuck store. The figures were restored and a few new ones were added, plus the new stable structure.
