June 25: Happy Birthday! Grace Louise Siewers

Grace Louise Siewers was born on this day in 1889, in Salem, to Dr. Nathaniel Shober and Eleanor de Schweinitz Siewers.

Grace graduated from Salem College and taught there following graduation.

She attended Columbia University and earned her degree in library science.  She was librarian at Salem College from 1928 until she retired in 1954.

In 1962, Grace was appointed archivist of the Southern Province of the Moravian Church.  She had served as acting archivist since 1957, following the death of Douglas Rights.  Grace served as archivist until 1966.

Grace was also a member of the board of directors for the Salem and the Belo Homes, and was a member of the Philocalian Book Club.

Grace passed away in 1967.
