On this day in 1920, the Union Republican announced that three new buildings are planned at the Methodist Children’s Home. The buildings are the Tise Building, a hospital, and a dormitory.
The Tise Building will be a cottage for boys. Cicero Tise made a bequest for $20,000 for this purpose.
A hospital is planned, costing $50,000, with most of the funds raised by the Methodist churches of Winston-Salem.
The third building is a dormitory that will cost about $25,000, and will be paid from a fund raised by the churches in the conference.
All buildings are planned for this year, and additional buildings are planned for the following year.
The postcard above shows the Tise Building in the bottom right corner.
