On this day in 1953, Barbara Ann Crockett (right), Miss Winston-Salem, was crowned Miss North Carolina.
Barbara Ann was crowned Miss Winston-Salem 1953 earlier in the month. The Miss North Carolina pageant took place in Morehead City.
Barbara Ann was the third Miss Winston-Salem to win the title of Miss North Carolina.
