Goody’s Pharmaceuticals Inc. donated their building and property on Salt Street to Old Salem in November 1995. Now, the building was to be demolished in the coming weeks, as reported on this date in 1996 by the Winston-Salem Journal.
The three-story building sat on the north end of Old Salem, and posed quite a contrast to the restored 18th-century Moravian buildings and homes nearby.
Goody’s started in Winston-Salem, and the company was located in several places before moving to this building in the 1940s. It was previously used for the manufacture of Big Winston overalls.
Removing the building provided a green space at the edge of the Old Salem Historic District, but the parking lots were retained.
