Sihon Cicero Ogburn was born on this day in 1873, in Winston, to Sihon Alexander and Mary Jane Tise Ogburn.

Sihon Cicero attended the local public schools and Oak Ridge Institute, and took a business college course.

He worked with his father in the family’s tobacco business, Ogburn-Hill Tobacco Company, until the business was sold in 1906.

He then entered the real estate and insurance business, and at one time was president of the Home Real Estate Loans & Insurance Company, president of the Ogburn Realty Company, president of the Winston-Salem Title & Abstract Company, and president of the Carolina Beach Company.

Sihon Cicero was one of the organizers and past presidents of the Goodwill Industries.  He served on the Board of Aldermen, and was a member of the Knights of Pythias.

He was also active in his church, Centenary Methodist, and served as chairman of the Board of Stewards of West End Methodist Church when it was consolidated with Centenary.

Sihon Cicero passed away in 1948.
