The front page of the Monday, December 23rd, 1963 issue of the Winston-Salem Journal featured one photograph showing a group of teenagers ice skating at Lake Hills.
No identification of the teenagers was given, nor were any details provided about the ice skating event, other than the location.
Frank Jones, well-known newspaper photographer, took the photo, along with several other images of the teenagers.
The article accompanying the photograph focused on the extremely cold weather and the prediction of snow that threatened the Winston-Salem area. In fact, a white Christmas was predicted in just two days.
On close examination, it appears that some of the teenagers graduated from North Forsyth High School in the classes of 1966 and 1967. Does anyone care to make an identification?
And, there is evidence to suspect that one of the teenagers is celebrating a birthday on this very day. Happy Birthday and enjoy this blast from your teenage past!
