On this day in 1973, Forsyth Bank & Trust opened at 110 Stratford Road.
The first officers of the bank were L. Glenn Orr Jr. as president and Charles W. Chatham as senior vice-president. Both Orr and Chatham had previously worked at Wachovia Bank and Trust Company.
The charter for the bank was granted by the State Banking Commission in January 1973.
After one year in business, the bank was thriving and had opened a branch office and was planning a second branch office.
