The half-page newspaper ad shown above caught the attention of Sunday readers on this day in 1919.
The ad announced the availability of building lots in the neighborhood called Buena Vista.
Some of the selling points for the 100-acre neighborhood were the paved streets, water, lights and telephone service. Also, the area in the western section of the city overlooked the new city park (Hanes Park) and the new high school (R. J. Reynolds High School).
The ad also listed the real estate firms that could be contacted for more information or to handle a sale.
