Bishop-Elect, Dr. J. Kenneth Pfohl, laid the first brick for the new Ardmore Moravian Church on this day in 1931.
And, Reverend Edgar Holton, pastor of the church, laid the second brick for the new church being constructed at Hawthorne Road and Academy Street.
Other visiting ministers followed by placing a brick.
Frank Jones, a 17-year-old amateur photographer in 1931, lived nearby the church’s construction. See the church rise in his photographs, from a cleared lot to a completed church at the corner of Hawthorne Road and Academy Street, in the “Then and Now” feature coming today.
