Integon Corporation announced on this day in 1977 that it will build an 18-story headquarters building on West Fifth Street.
The photo above shows the corner of West Fifth and Spruce Streets. The house was built by Henry Dalton Poindexter, who lived there with his family. The building at the left was the Security Life & Trust Company.
The Poindexter house was moved to a lot on West End Boulevard.
