On this day in 1919, the old Ogburn-Hill Company tobacco factory was sold to the Peerless Candy Company by C. J. and C. D. Ogburn.

The factory was located at Cherry and Sixth Street, and was sold to be converted to a modern candy factory.

The local branch of the Peerless Candy Company occupies a building on South Main Street.  When the Ogburn-Hill building is vacated, the new owners will proceed with renovations and repairs.
