This Thanksgiving postcard was mailed to a Winston-Salem woman in November 1907. The postcard came from a relative in Washington State.
The postcard is embossed and has the word “postcard” written in many languages on the back (French, German, Czech, Italian, Swedish, and Spanish). Also present on the back of the postcard are the words, “Union postale universelle,” meaning the Universal Postal Union (UPU), established by the Treaty of Bern, 1874. This was a specialized agency of the United Nations that coordinated postal policies among member agencies.
Happy Thanksgiving greetings from the Winston-Salem Time Traveler!
