New Book Alert! Winston-Salem’s Architectural Heritage

Fearnbach book cover

Here’s a book to add to your summer reading list.  It is not light reading…the book weighs 7.5 pounds.  But if you are interested in Winston-Salem history, buildings, people and architecture, you will enjoy making your way through pages of photographs and details about the city’s architectural history.

Heather Fearnbach, local historic preservation specialist and instructor, is the author.  The book is divided into sections that reflect geographic areas, or neighborhoods, of the city.  Businesses, houses, and other structures, both standing and demolished, are discussed as to their history and their impact on the city.  To accompany the book’s launch, Heather has scheduled several speaking events regarding the book.

Many of the black and white photographs used in the book to illustrate the richly researched text came from the photograph collection at the Forsyth County Public Library.

All of the Forsyth County Library branches will soon have copies, so you can also see the books there.  The North Carolina Room at the Forsyth County Government Center, 2nd floor, has copies for viewing.

Make yourself comfortable…the book covers a lot of information, so be prepared to be amazed at all you will learn about Winston-Salem.
