Miriam DuBose was the Winston-Salem Journal reporter who described the opening reception at Old Town Club, held on this day in 1939.
She and a staff reporter were given a sneak preview of the club, and DuBose wrote a glowing review of the club’s location and buildings.
While the facilities have been enlarged over the years, one of the club’s main attractions is the challenging 18-hole golf course designed by architect Perry Maxwell, who also designed the course at Reynolds Park.
