The Twin Castles Apartments are available for occupancy, as announced in the Winston-Salem Journal on this day in 1938.
The three, white brick buildings containing 124 apartments were located on a knoll between Beach and Everett Streets.
The apartments featured large rooms, with cross ventilation for cooling and a new style of radiation for heating. Tiled bathrooms, large closets in the bedrooms, and compact but well-equipped kitchens offered all the amenities to prospective renters, including outdoor sandboxes for children.
