The construction of a new building was announced on this day in 1953.
A new Penney’s Department Store would be built on the corner of West Fourth and Marshall Streets. The lot was currently occupied by the Twin City Club, but demolition was underway at this time.
The Penney’s Department Store was located at this time on the corner of West Fourth and Trade Streets. The new building would provide space for the store to expand and offer more goods.
