Dr. Walter Mark Depp was born on this day in 1893.
Dr. Depp graduated from Allegheny College and the Boston University School of Theology. He was inducted into the Methodist ministry through the Baltimore Conference. He served as an Army Chaplain in World War I.
He served churches in Baltimore, Washington, and Pittsburgh. He came to Winston-Salem at the end of World War II, and was the minister at Centenary Methodist Church for 16 years.
Dr. Depp retired from the ministry in 1961, but remained in Winston-Salem until 1972, when he and his wife moved to Florida.
He returned to Winston-Salem in 1984, at age 90, to pronounce the benediction at the groundbreaking for Arbor Acres.
Dr. Depp passed away in 1986.
