Lamb Archibald (L.A.) Reynolds was born on this day in 1874, in Forsyth County, to Ferdinand and Henrietta Spaugh Reynolds.
He spent all of his life in the Lewisville community, and was active in civic affairs.
He was married in 1903 to Bessie Binkley.
L. A. Reynolds was known as the “fruit tree man” throughout the hills of North Carolina and Virginia. He was the owner and operator of the L. A. Reynolds nursery for 32 years. He retired in 1947, and turned the running of the business over to his sons.
In addition to being known as a nurseryman, he was a member of the Forsyth County Board of Education.
L. A. Reynolds passed away in 1958.
Today, the L. A. Reynolds Garden Showplace is located at 4400 Styers Ferry Road. It is no longer operated by the Reynolds family. Jerry Long bought the business in 1991, and today it is operated by members of the Long family. The website for L. A. Reynolds Garden Showplace is http://www.lareynolds.com/
