Changes took place on this day in 1952 concerning bus fares. Bus tokens were no longer accepted on city buses when Duke Power Company’s new straight 10-cent fare took effect.
City bus riders could cash in their tokens at 8-cents apiece, 17-cents for 2, and a quarter for 3.
Special tickets for primary and elementary school children were sold as before at the price of 4 for a quarter, for transportation between home and school between 7 am and 4:30 pm.
In the last month (September, 1952) eight 23-seat buses were traded for eight 31-seat buses, increasing the seating capacity of city buses by 72 seats.
