George Frederick Bahnson was born on this day in 1805, in a Moravian community in Denmark.
He was educated at Herrnhut, Germany, and came to the United States to be a teacher in Pennsylvania about 1829.
He was ordained a deacon in 1834, and moved to Bethania to be a pastor. He went to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 1838 to serve a church.
He was married first to Amelia Hortensia Frueauf, second to Anna Gertrude Paulina Conrad, and third to Louisa Amelia Belo.
He returned to Salem. In 1857, he began keeping the Salem diary in English, rather than in German.
He was consecrated a Bishop in the Moravian Church in 1860. He passed away in 1869.
