Blanche Eugenia Stockton was born on this day in 1902, in Salem, to Rev. Ernest and Minnie Tesh Stockton.
Blanche’s father, Ernest, was a Moravian layman who led prayer services. He was recruited by the Provincial Conference to take a correspondence course from the seminary in Bethlehem to help alleviate a shortage of Moravian clergy in the early 1900s. He also served as a Provincial Sunday School superintendent and as Provincial treasurer. The appointment was made a ministerial call in 1929. He also served as a supply or temporary pastor in many churches. Ernest passed away in 1935, and his son, Edwin, Blanche’s brother, succeeded him as Provincial treasurer.
Blanche graduated from Salem College in 1924. She began her career as dietitian at Salem College in 1932, and worked there until her death in 1948.
She was a member of Home Moravian Church and taught Sunday School there for many years.
