On this day in 1990, R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company factory #12 closed after its final shift ending at midnight.
The photo above was taken on Chestnut Street, looking north toward Third Street, in 1960. RJR Factory #12 is at the right.
The 1916 factory building was reconstructed and is used today as the Forsyth County Government Center, shown below.
