On this day in 1929, an announcement was made in the Winston-Salem Journal that Lawrence Hospital on Oak Street has been redecorated by E. O. Charles.
And, modern equipment has been added.
The postcard above shows the exterior of the building, the reception room, the operating room, and a private hospital room. The postcard was mailed in January 1929, so the redecorating changes are not reflected in this card.
Lawrence Hospital opened in 1920 and had 56 beds. It was opened by Dr. Charles Lawrence and Dr. Cooke. Dr. Lawrence passed away in 1930. The hospital closed in 1933.
The building was used later for apartments.
