On this day in 1946, Hanes Hosiery officially opened its new baseball field. The opening game was between the Hosiery Nine and the Hanes Knitters. The game was in the Piedmont Semipro league race, and the teams were advertised to be evenly matched rivals.
The field is located at Indiana Avenue and Akron Drive.
The field has a new grass infield, a new fence, a new scoreboard, and the stands have been rebuilt.
