Ada Huske Allen was born on this day in 1884, in Winston-Salem. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Edward Allen, who came to Winston-Salem in 1876.
Ada attended the local schools, Salem College, and studied art at Columbia University and the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts.
Ada worked as a decorator and an interior architect in Winston-Salem. She was interested in Salem, and undertook the first restoration of Salem Tavern in 1928. She was one of the organizers of Old Salem Inc.
Ada lived on South Church Street with her sister, Anne, and was a lifetime member of Home Moravian Church.
Ada passed away in 1978.
