The article in the newspaper announced that the painting called “The Crucifixion” was on display for two weeks, beginning today in 1911, at Huntley-Hill-Stockton Company.
The Huntley-Hill-Stockton Company was located on the corner of West Fifth and Trade Streets, and the store specialized in furniture, but also carried other household items.
The painting was the masterpiece of Franz A. Lundahl, a noted Swedish artist, who spent three years creating it. Valued at $100,000, the painting was covered by $72,000 in insurance, and was exhibited on the second floor of the store.
There was no charge for viewing the masterpiece, and there is a note in the advertisement that states no one coming to view the painting will be pressured into making a purchase.
