The Twin City Sentinel announced on this day in 1936 that the Sunday School annex to the old Centenary Methodist Church would be converted to a commercial building.
The annex was located at Trade and Sixth Streets, and was no longer needed for Sunday School space since Centenary Methodist Church moved to its new facility on West Fifth Street.
The announcement relates that a permit was recently obtained to convert the ground floor into stores, which will be partitioned off in size to suit the tenant. The upper floors will be converted into council halls, storage space, or for rooming purposes.
The building had been used recently by the Goodwill Mission for rummage sales, etc. Part of the main auditorium is being used for the parcel post department of the local post office, until the post office addition is completed.
The building still stands today.
