Cherries in the Snow is great dessert for February with its red and white color scheme, and it can be made ahead of dinner and refrigerated until time to serve.
Ingredients:
Crust:
2 c. graham cracker crumbs
½ c. butter or margarine, melted
3 T. Confectioner’s sugar
Filling:
1 c. Confectioner’s sugar
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 sm. Angel food cake
2 cans cherry pie filling
1 box Dream Whip (containing 2 pkg., use both pkg.)
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
Combine the crust ingredients and press into the bottom and a little up the sides of a 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 min. Cool.
Prepare the Dream Whip with the milk and vanilla. Mix cream cheese and Confectioner’s sugar in a separate bowl. Combine Dream Whip with cream cheese mixture. Put a layer of the mixture on the crust in the baking dish. Add a layer of the sliced Angel Food cake, then cover with the remaining cream cheese mixture. Add the cherry pie filling to the top and chill for 4 to 8 hours before serving. Cut into squares.
